Marvellous mushrooms


For centuries mushrooms, have been used in medicine for their healing powers. Though classified as vegetables in the food world, they are not technically plants. They are a type of fungus.

Mushrooms are a superb source of antioxidants as well as copper, niacin, selenium, potassium and phosphorous. Additionally, mushrooms provide protein, vitamin C and iron.

Many types of mushrooms have proved to possess numerous benefits, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and even anticancer. Therefore, mushrooms have the potential to reduce symptoms in many conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus and neurodegenerative diseases. They are also linked to helping improve immunity.

Mushrooms go well with most dishes, simply heated with a little olive oil and crushed garlic or look out for our tasty recipes over the next few weeks.
