What is depression?
Depression affects people in many different ways and ranges from lasting feelings of unhappiness and hopelessness, to physical symptoms such as constantly feeling tired and poor appetite.
Depression symptoms can range from mild to severe which include feeling persistently low in spirit on a milder level to feeling suicidal and that life is no longer worth living at a more severe level.
What causes depression?
Usually there is a trigger for depression. This is often a life-changing event such as, bereavement, losing your job or even having a baby.
Additionally, people with a family history of depression are more likely to experience it themselves.
Depression can affect one in four people at some point during their lives and can affect anyone, young or old.
