Areas of expertise:
My name is Gia, I’m a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor. I trained at Regents University in London. I have an graduate degree majoring in Psychology. After completing my BA at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, I studied an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling through Regents University in London. Following my MA, I completed my Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy, also through Regents University London. An Integrative Psychotherapist means that I practice from three basic theoretical backgrounds, Psychoanalytic, Existential and Humanistic. I usually work in an open-ended, client-centred frame, which means the client decides how long the period of work is. Sessions run for 50 minutes and are every week. Therapy is not only for people who are struggling with traumatic experiences or have identified particularly difficult events, therapy is a way of facilitating change in the life you have to achieve the optimal amount of fulfilment and enjoyment from life.
There are many presenting issues that I work with, some of these are listed below:
- Panic Attacks
- Relationship Struggles
- Behavioural Difficulties
- Eating Disorders
- Family Difficulties
- Anger Management
- Abuse: Verbal, Emotional, Physical or Sexual
- Pregnancy/Family planning
Therapy is a collaborative experience and I welcome working with any client in a way that
suits them and assists them in facilitating a change in their life.
How it works: We meet for an Initial session of 50minutes, during which we talk about what and how the client would like to deal with. This session is for both therapist and client to get an idea if they are able to work with one another and if they decide to go forward together in a working alliance, then queries and concerns are also talked about during this session. It is very important the the client feels comfortable and it is totally put to them whether they proceed with the work. All sessions are confidential and held in a secure setting that is the same every week.
